The Sultan of Chic - Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton established his own business at the age of 33. His signature travel trunks were elegant and robust. This was in line with the penchant for travel at the time, as train journeys and travel by steam ship became more and more popular. Five years after founding ‘Louis Vuitton Malletier’ he expanded his business, together with his son Georges, he developed the patented trunk lock that is still used today. When Vuitton died at the age of 70, Georges took over the prosperous travel trunk business. In commemoration of his father, he developed the legendary ‘Canvas Monogram’, the combined initials of his father with its stylized flower pattern
